Investing In Barnstaple’s Future

11 Apr 2023

Over the last four years, Lib Dem run North Devon Council has spearheaded a huge investment in our town centre. The council has teamed up with business, the police and government to try to turn round the town centre.

Lib Dem spokesperson Ian Roome sums it up: “We’ve shown that Liberal Democrats are not just there for the selfies and the good times. We will roll up our sleeves and get things done all year round.”

“Our councillors who live in Barnstaple share your concerns about the town centre. We believe in the bold vision to rejuvenate the town, we will work with anyone who is able to help achieve that vision and we’ll find ways of doing it that won’t cost taxpayers more”

“We don’t just stand on the sidelines moaning. We believe in getting things done for our community and the people of North Devon”

Bold Vision for Barnstaple’s Future

The Council put together an ambitious plan to rejuvenate the historic centre of the town, around Butchers Row and the Pannier Market.  The government were so impressed by the Lib Dem Plan that they put £6million into improving our town centre

“The effects of COVID, poor planning laws and online shopping could have killed our town centre” said Lib Dem spokesperson Louisa York “I’m delighted that we have come forward with a plan to stop that happening and have got the money to rejuvenate the town centre".

“With the new pannier market, Butchers Row improvements and starter units for new business, Barnstaple will be Streets Ahead”
