Stagecoach has announced a new 'North Devon' Fare Zone, after local campaign led by local MP, Ian Roome, and backed by almost 3,500 people.

The new 'North Devon Zone' will extend lower-price fares to parts of North Devon such as Ilfracombe, South Molton and Combe Martin, that had previously paid extra.

Ian Roome MP said: “This is Real Win for bus users. A huge thank you to the nearly 3,500 people who signed the petition, everyone who shared their stories with me and my office, and the local schools – including Ilfracombe Academy – who helped get the word out.”

“Affordable travel is so important for people getting to work, college, hospital appointments and the shops. January will still bring Stagecoach’s annual price rise, including in the old ‘Barnstaple Zone’, but I’ll keep pushing for fair, affordable fares."

“Ultimately though, this wider North Devon Zone finally ends the postcode lottery and makes bus travel cheaper for passengers, students and families right across North Devon.”

From 4th January, bus prices in the new North Devon Zone will be reduced for many towns and villages who were previously outside the old ‘Barnstaple Zone.’

Prices within this new zone will follow the following fare structure:

Day Adult - £6.50

Day Child -£4.30

7 Day Adult - £26

7 Day Child - £17.20

28 Day Adult - £96.20

28 Day Child - £63.50
