Local butcher Darren Gratton has won a Barnstaple Town Council By-election for the Liberal Democrats in Pilton and Yeo Ward.

The final results were:

Darren Gratton (LibDem) - 357 (57%)
Howard Porter (Green) - 265 (43%)

Lib Dem HOLD

Well-known in the Town Centre, Darren has been a part of the family business for decades. In a unusual ballot paper, there was no Conservative, Reform or Labour candidate.

Darren thanked everyone who voted, and pledged to get stuck in on behalf of local residents.

North Devon Lib Dem MP, Ian Roome, congratulated Darren and local Lib Dems on their win saying "I know Darren cares deeply about Barnstaple and won't hesitate to roll up his sleeves. Well done everyone!"
