Acting, not Moaning
In the middle of COVID, Green Lane’s owners announced that they were getting rid of the town centre shopping centre. “This could have seen loads of shops go out of business and would have been the death knell for the town centre” said Lib Dem councillor Caroline Leaver . The council acted quickly and stepped in with an offer to buy the centre and keep it running.
“We’ve changed the way the centre is run and now it makes a profit for North Devon that helps to keep council tax down. We’ve saved jobs from being lost, stopped shops closing and provided a home for new local businesses.”
“You can be sure that with a Lib Dem run council, we will roll our sleeves up and get things done, not just stand and moan from the sidelines”.
