About Louisa:

Louisa was born and raised in Barnstaple. She is married to Keith and they currently live in Lower Newport with their two sons.

With a degree and past career in librarianship, she now owns and runs a childcare business. She was a Governor at Newport Community School Primary Academy for six and a half years. Pretty techie, a keen cook and crafter, she also makes time for Newport residents’ issues.

She and Keith, are Trustees of the North Devon Forum for Autistic Spectrum Conditions and ADHD which helps local families with signposting to services and provides regular, subsidised events and activities.

She said: "I thoroughly enjoy being a Barnstaple Town Councillor but also wanted to rise to the challenges being a District Councillor brings. I have an excellent attendance record for council meetings and have participated fully. I have become involved with many related community groups and campaigns including North Devon Voluntary Services, Barnstaple Youth House, Save Our Hospital Services (SOHS), Pannier Market Traders’ Committee, Go North Devon and One Barnstaple.”

“Barnstaple Town Council has given me the opportunity to become Chair of the Environment Committee and to lead on the Climate Emergency Working Group. I work with a great team of people who are very knowledgable. We are always looking for more people to bring their skills and experience to the working Group to help with developing Barnstaple’s carbon-neutral action plan.”

"I am very proud to be ward colleague with Cllr Caroline Leaver in Newport. Together we make an effective team! We are currently offering councillor surgeries every Friday for Newport residents. Zoom appointments are bookable on the ‘Newport, Barnstaple Focus Team’ Facebook page.”
