Lib Dems pledge more for rural areas

Graphic - Lib Dems pledge more for rural areasLib Dems in Devon have voted for increased investment in areas just like North Devon.

Braunton Lib Dem councillor Derrick Spear said, “We believe that all communities – whether rural or urban – should have the opportunity to flourish, although too often areas like North Devon get overlooked.”

Liberal Democrats would build affordable homes on all developments.

Commenting, Derrick said:

“I know of far too many families broken up by the lack of affordable homes in our community. I am proud the Lib Dems are committed to building more homes in the area that local young people can afford. https://www.libdems.org.uk/conference-spring-18-housing-motion

“Unless we tackle this issue soon, the North Devon coast will just become the preserve of those that can afford to stay or second homes from people who just don’t put the same amount in to local community”  https://www.libdems.org.uk/increase-tax-second-homes

Derrick said:

“The Lib Dems are also campaigning hard to get superfast broadband provided to all households and businesses - a must when looking at starting or investing in any area.”

“Devon is missing vital funding from the government. Businesses will just not move here without the necessary technological improvements.”
