Lib Dem District and Parish councillors came from all over North Devon on Saturday to share ideas on how to tackle the climate emergency.
The event was put on by 361 Community Energy - a not for profit social enterprise based in North Devon. Their aims are to promote energy saving and renewable energy in our local area. www.361energy.org @361Energy
Lib Dem councils including Braunton, Barnstaple and North Devon have declared Climate Emergencies and are now working on action plans to address how they can reduce carbon emissions by 2030. Climate Change lead at North Devon Council, Caroline Leaver (3rd from right in picture), said “It was fantastic to see so many Lib Dem councillors from parishes all over the district prepared to give up their Saturday to work on this critical issue for us all. We must work with other organisations like 361, town and parish councils if we are to meet our carbon reduction goals”
Louisa York (2nd from left), who chairs the Climate Action Plan for Barnstaple said “It’s encouraging to see that so many other parishes are prepared to roll up their sleeves and get on with measures to reduce their carbon footprint. It’s time that we started looking over the horizon at strategies to save our communities from flooding, food shortages and air pollution in the future”
