Marguerite Shapland, a veteran Lib Dem campaigner in Braunton, has won an overwhelming victory in yesterdays by-election for the Parish Council there.
The Lib Dems polled 386 votes, more than double the Labour vote and over four times the Green vote – winning 61% of the vote.
New Lib Dem Parish Councillor, Marguerite says ”Having lived in Braunton all my life, and served as the North Devon Council Councillor here for 14 years, I am delighted to have been elected to Braunton Parish Council. I shall bring the same hard work and dedication that I displayed in my campaign to be elected as your new Lib Dem Parish Councillor. Please do get in touch with me about any local, Parish matters of concern. I am keen to meet as many of you as possible over the coming weeks and months."
Kirsten Johnson, Lib Dem Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for North Devon adds ”I am delighted for Marguerite and for the people of Braunton – they have elected a hard-working and experienced Councillor. The result shows that in North Devon ONLY a vote for the Liberal Democrats can replace the Tories at every level; Parish, District, County and Westminster”.
