Nick's work in Parliament

Nick on Westminster Bridge

Now in his fifth Parliamentary term, Nick is a senior MP and in addition to his work raising constituency and regional issues he also serves as Minister of State for the Armed Forces.

Prior to accepting his Ministerial appointment in 2010 Nick worked on some of the internal committees of the House of Commons, which are vital to its workings. In particular, he served on the House of Commons Commission - the body of six MPs chaired by the Speaker, who act as "non-executive directors" of the House and hold the Board of Management to account. He was the Commission's official spokesman, answering questions in the House and from the media about the way the House is run. .

A good network of friends and contacts is essential to being an effective MP. Nick has built relationships with colleagues on all sides of the House during his eighteen years in Parliament. More information about his work in Parliament is detailed below.
