GOVERNMENT SAYS NORTH DEVON SUFFERS 2ND WORST FUEL POVERTY IN THE COUNTY
12.00.00pm GMT Wed 3rd Mar 2010
Nick Harvey, MP for North Devon says, "I am shocked by the Government's inability to get to grips with the numbers of households trapped in fuel poverty. Official figures show North Devon suffers from some of the worst fuel poverty in the county.
"Following my recently tabled Parliamentary Question to the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, the Government has revealed the latest figures available are for 2006. These indicate that North Devon has the second highest number of households in fuel poverty after Torridge and West Devon.
"This data clearly shows the Government is failing to keep track of this problem and its own initiatives to tackle it - if the latest figures it can offer are four years old!"
